What this code means
The PCM detected a discrepancy between the commanded throttle actuator position and the actual position. The electronic throttle control system is not achieving the position requested by the PCM.
Symptoms
- Reduced Engine Power message
- Check Engine Light
- Limited acceleration
- Engine may idle only
- Limp mode
Common causes
- Carbon buildup in throttle body
- Faulty throttle body actuator motor
- Worn or damaged TPS
- Wiring issue to throttle body
- PCM calibration issue
Diagnostic steps
- Clean throttle body
- Test throttle body motor
- Check TPS sensor readings
- Inspect all throttle body connectors
- Check for PCM software update
Repair notes
Clean throttle body. If condition persists, replace throttle body assembly. Check for PCM reprogramming TSBs.
