Turbo/Supercharger Bypass Valve Control Circuit
2011-2015 Ford Explorer 3.5L V6 π¨π¦
Description
The turbo bypass valve (diverter valve/blow-off valve) control circuit has a malfunction. The bypass valve recirculates pressurized air during throttle closure.
Symptoms
- Check Engine Light
- Compressor surge on deceleration
- Flutter noise from turbo
- Reduced boost response after throttle lift
- Check Engine Light after spirited driving
Common Causes
- Faulty bypass valve solenoid
- Torn bypass valve diaphragm
- Wiring issue to solenoid
- Vacuum line leak
- PCM driver failure
Diagnostic Steps
- Test bypass valve solenoid resistance
- Inspect vacuum lines to bypass valve
- Command solenoid with scan tool
- Check valve diaphragm for tears
- Inspect wiring and connector
Repair Notes
Replace bypass valve or solenoid. Inspect vacuum hoses for cracks.
