Engine Stall or Near Stall Detected
2002-2007 Buick Rendezvous 3.5L V6
Description
The PCM has the ability to set this code when it detects the engine has stalled or nearly stalled while the ignition is still in the ON/RUN position. This code is typically a secondary code caused by an underlying condition.
Symptoms
- Engine stalling unexpectedly
- Check Engine Light
- Rough or erratic idle leading to stall
- Engine nearly dies at idle
Common Causes
- Underlying issue causing stall (vacuum leak, fuel pump, IAC valve)
- Ignition system failure (coils, plugs, wires)
- Sensor failure (MAF, TPS, CKP)
- Fuel delivery problem
- EGR valve stuck open
- Torque converter clutch not releasing
Diagnostic Steps
- Check for other DTCs that may indicate root cause
- Test fuel pressure
- Inspect for vacuum leaks
- Test IAC valve operation
- Check ignition system components
- Monitor sensor data for anomalies
Repair Notes
This code is usually a result of another underlying problem. Diagnose and repair the root cause first. Common culprits: vacuum leaks, failing fuel pump, faulty IAC valve, ignition problems.
