No Auto Shutdown Relay Output Voltage At PCM
on 2006 Dodge Dakota 4.7L V8 · 4WD
What this code means
The PCM is not receiving the ASD relay output sense voltage. This feedback signal tells the PCM that the ASD relay has energized and is providing power to injectors and coils. Without this signal, the PCM may shut down the engine or prevent starting.
Symptoms
- Engine cranks but will not start
- Engine starts then immediately dies
- No spark and no injector pulse
- Check Engine Light
Common causes
- Faulty ASD relay not closing
- Open circuit in ASD sense wire to PCM
- Blown ASD fuse
- Corroded ASD relay connector
- PCM connector corrosion at sense pin
Diagnostic steps
- Check ASD fuse and relay operation
- Measure voltage at PCM ASD sense pin with relay energized
- Test ASD relay coil and contacts
- Inspect wiring from ASD relay output to PCM sense input
- Check for corrosion at PCM connector
Repair notes
Replace the ASD relay if it is not closing; repair the sense wire from the relay to the PCM if open.
