Inline High Pressure Pump Fault
2004-2009 Dodge Durango 4.7L V8
Description
The PCM has detected a fault with the inline high-pressure fuel pump. The fuel pump is not delivering the commanded fuel pressure, which can cause starting problems and reduced engine performance. Common on Chrysler GDI engines.
Symptoms
- Check Engine Light
- Hard starting or extended crank time
- Rough idle
- Loss of power under acceleration
- Engine stalling
Common Causes
- Failing high-pressure fuel pump
- Clogged fuel filter restricting flow
- Fuel pump relay failure
- Wiring or connector issue at fuel pump
- Low voltage supply to fuel pump module
Diagnostic Steps
- Check fuel pressure with a gauge at the fuel rail
- Monitor fuel pressure PID on scan tool during cranking and at idle
- Inspect fuel pump relay and fuse
- Test fuel pump voltage supply
- Check fuel filter for restriction
Repair Notes
Replace the high-pressure fuel pump if pressure is below specification; check fuel filter and wiring first.
