MAP Sensor Circuit Malfunction
on 2016 Hyundai Tucson 2.0L I4 · FWD
What this code means
The PCM has detected a malfunction in the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor circuit. The MAP sensor signal is outside the expected voltage range or is not correlating with other engine sensor inputs.
Symptoms
- Check Engine Light
- Poor engine performance
- Rough idle
- Black smoke from exhaust
- Poor fuel economy
Common causes
- Faulty MAP sensor
- Vacuum hose to MAP sensor disconnected or leaking
- Wiring open or short in MAP circuit
- Corroded MAP sensor connector
- PCM 5V reference voltage issue
Diagnostic steps
- Check MAP sensor voltage at key-on engine-off (should read near barometric pressure)
- Inspect vacuum hose to MAP sensor
- Test MAP sensor with hand vacuum pump
- Check 5V reference and ground circuits
- Inspect MAP sensor connector for corrosion
Repair notes
Replace the MAP sensor if it does not respond correctly to vacuum changes.
