Parts
- Transmission mount assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level ground and engage parking brake
- Allow engine to cool completely if recently operated
- Raise front of vehicle and support securely on jack stands at manufacturer-specified lift points
- Remove front skid plate or belly pan if equipped using 10mm socket
Procedure
- 1Support the transmissionPosition a transmission jack or floor jack with a wooden block under the transmission pan to support the weight. Raise jack just enough to make light contact without lifting the transmission.
- 2Locate the transmission mountThe transmission mount is located on the passenger side of the transmission. Identify the mount bracket bolted to the transmission case and the mount-to-crossmember connection points.
- 3Remove upper mount fastenersRemove the bolts securing the transmission mount to the transmission case using a 14mm or 17mm socket depending on the specific fastener. Support the mount as you remove the final bolt.Torque specTransmission Mount Bolts65 Nm (48 lb-ft)
- 4Remove lower mount fastenersRemove the bolts or nuts securing the transmission mount to the crossmember using the appropriate socket. Note the orientation and position of any washers or spacers for reinstallation.Torque specTransmission Mount Bolts65 Nm (48 lb-ft)Mounting Bolts27 Nm (20 lb-ft)
- 5Remove the transmission mountCarefully lower the transmission jack slightly if needed to create clearance. Remove the transmission mount assembly from between the transmission and crossmember. Inspect the mounting surfaces on both the transmission and crossmember for damage or deformation.
- 6Inspect and prepare mounting surfacesClean the transmission mount contact surfaces on both the transmission case and crossmember using a wire brush. Remove any rust, corrosion, or old rubber debris. Inspect the crossmember for cracks or damage.
- 7Position the new transmission mountPosition the new transmission mount between the transmission case and crossmember. Ensure the mount is oriented correctly with any alignment tabs or dowels properly seated. Raise the transmission jack slightly if needed to align mounting holes.
- 8Install lower mount fastenersInstall the lower bolts or nuts securing the mount to the crossmember. Thread fasteners by hand first to ensure proper alignment. Snug but do not fully torque at this stage.Torque specTransmission Mount Bolts65 Nm (48 lb-ft)Mounting Bolts27 Nm (20 lb-ft)
- 9Install upper mount fastenersInstall the bolts securing the transmission mount to the transmission case. Thread fasteners by hand first to prevent cross-threading. Snug but do not fully torque at this stage.Torque specTransmission Mount Bolts65 Nm (48 lb-ft)
- 10Torque all mount fastenersTorque the transmission-to-mount bolts first to the specified value (65.0 Nm or 75.0 Nm depending on fastener size, refer to factory specification). Then torque the mount-to-crossmember bolts to specification (47.0 Nm or 75.0 Nm depending on location). Follow factory tightening sequence if specified.Torque specTransmission Mount Bolts65 Nm (48 lb-ft)Mounting Bolts27 Nm (20 lb-ft)
- 11Remove transmission supportCarefully lower and remove the transmission jack or support. Verify the transmission settles properly onto the new mount without excessive movement or binding.
Reassembly
- Reinstall front skid plate or belly pan if equipped, torquing fasteners to 16.0 Nm (12.0 lb-ft)
- Lower vehicle from jack stands
- Perform final visual inspection of mount installation from both above and below
Verification
- Start engine and verify no excessive vibration is present in cabin
- Shift through all transmission gears (Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive) and verify smooth operation without unusual movement
- Perform a test drive and verify transmission operates normally without vibration or noise
- Recheck all mount fastener torque after test drive
- Inspect mount area for any signs of contact or interference during operation
