Fix: The 2ZR-FE in early xDs suffers from piston ring wear and oil control issues that can escalate to spun bearings or scored cylinder walls. Once oil consumption starts, it accelerates quickly. Fix requires short block replacement or full engine rebuild with new pistons, rings, bearings, and often crankshaft work. 18-24 hours labor for R&R plus machine work.
