Replace the front sway (anti-roll) bar bushings on a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast. The bushings sit inside the sway bar brackets that clamp the bar to the front subframe; this is a straightforward suspension job but requires care around the air suspension and 48V electrical system.
Warnings
⚠️This vehicle uses an 800V HV battery and 48V low-voltage architecture. Never touch, cut, or pierce any orange cable. If you see an orange cable in your work area, STOP.
⚠️Cybertruck has air suspension. Before lifting, place the vehicle in Jack Mode via the touchscreen to disable automatic ride-height changes — failure to do so can cause the vehicle to attempt to self-level on the lift.
⚠48V low-voltage system — connectors, fuses, and accessories differ from 12V Teslas. Use only 48V-rated tools and replacement hardware where applicable.
⚠Steer-by-wire: there is no mechanical column. Do NOT rotate or force the front wheels with the yoke unpowered, as the front actuator may not be in a known position.
⚠Cybertruck curb weight exceeds 6,600 lb. Use lifting equipment rated well above typical passenger-car capacity and only at Tesla-approved jacking points.
ℹ️Replace bushings in pairs (left and right) to maintain balanced sway bar response.

Parts
- Front sway bar bushing (manufacturer-specified for Cybertruck front bar diameter) × 2 — OEM Tesla Cybertruck front sway bar bushing — match bar diameter; replace as a pair
Preparation
- Park on level ground, place in P, engage parking brake.
- Exit ALL doors with the key fob away from the vehicle. Wait at least 2 minutes for HV systems to fully de-energize, even on this non-HV job.
- Disconnect the 48V low-voltage battery per Tesla service procedure (Cybertruck uses a 48V LV system, not 12V — confirm location and disconnect order in the Tesla Service Manual).
- DO NOT touch, cut, or pierce ANY orange cable — these are high-voltage and lethal.
- If at any point you encounter an orange cable, an HV component, or are unsure if a system is de-energized: STOP and consult a Tesla-certified technician.
- Engage Jack Mode via the touchscreen (Controls → Service → Jack Mode) before raising the vehicle to disable air suspension self-leveling.
- Chock the rear wheels.
- Loosen front lug nuts while wheels are on the ground.
- Raise the front of the vehicle at the manufacturer-specified front jacking points and support on rated jack stands. Confirm stability before going underneath.
- Remove front wheels.
- Inspect the sway bar, end links, and surrounding suspension components for additional wear before proceeding.
Procedure
- 1Locate the front sway bar and bracketsFrom under the front of the vehicle, identify the front sway bar running laterally across the subframe. The bushings are housed in two clamp-style brackets bolting the bar to the subframe (or sway bar mounting points). Take a photo of routing and bracket orientation for reference during reassembly.
- 2Support the sway barPlace a transmission jack or a second floor jack lightly under the center of the sway bar to support its weight once the brackets are loosened. The bar will drop slightly when unbolted.⚠Do not allow the sway bar to fall — it can damage end links, ABS lines, or wiring harnesses below.
- 3Disconnect sway bar end links (if required for clearance)If bracket access is restricted, disconnect the sway bar end link from the sway bar at one or both ends. - 5Remove old bushingsSlide each bushing off the sway bar. Note the orientation — many sway bar bushings are split (clamshell) with a slit on one side that must face a specific direction (typically toward the rear or up, per OEM design). Reference the photo taken in Step 1.
- 6Inspect sway bar and bracketsClean the sway bar at the bushing contact areas. Inspect for corrosion, wear grooves, or damage. Inspect brackets for cracks or deformation. Replace any compromised hardware.
- 7Install new bushingsInstall the new bushings onto the sway bar in the original orientation. If the bushings are dry rubber, a thin film of silicone-safe rubber lubricant or soapy water can ease installation; do NOT use petroleum-based grease, which degrades rubber. Position the bushings at their factory locations on the bar (often indicated by molded shoulders or paint marks).⚠Never use petroleum grease on rubber suspension bushings — it will cause premature failure.

Reassembly
- Reinstall front wheels and hand-thread lug nuts.
- Lower the vehicle until the wheels just touch the ground, then torque lug nuts to OEM specification — refer to Tesla Service Manual.
- Fully lower the vehicle.
- Reconnect the 48V low-voltage battery.
- Exit Jack Mode via the touchscreen and allow the air suspension to re-level to Standard ride height.
- Verify air suspension reaches and holds normal ride height with no warnings on the touchscreen.
Verification
- Confirm no suspension, ride-height, or stability-control fault messages appear on the touchscreen after a key cycle.
- Test drive at low speed over uneven pavement and listen for clunks from the front end — a properly installed sway bar bushing should be silent.
- Perform gentle lane-change inputs at moderate speed; the front end should feel firm and symmetrical with no rattle.
- After the test drive, re-inspect bracket bolts visually for movement and recheck torque on Sway Bar Bracket Bolts and Sway Bar Link Nuts.
- Note: While under the vehicle, this is a good opportunity to verify Tesla's 4-year / 50,000 mi battery coolant inspection status and check tire wear — Tesla recommends tire rotation every 6,250 mi on Cybertruck due to vehicle weight and instant torque.
