What this code means
The Controller Area Network (CAN) communication link between the Engine Control Module and the ABS module has a fault. The modules cannot exchange data properly.
Symptoms
- Check Engine Light
- ABS warning light
- Traction control disabled
- Possible limp mode
Common causes
- Damaged CAN bus wiring
- Faulty ABS module
- Faulty PCM
- Corroded CAN connector
- CAN bus termination issue
Diagnostic steps
- Check for ABS DTCs as well
- Inspect CAN bus wiring for damage
- Test CAN bus resistance (should be ~60 ohms between CAN-H and CAN-L)
- Check connectors at PCM and ABS module
Repair notes
Repair CAN bus wiring. Replace faulty module if communication is lost.
