What this code means

The PCM has detected a fault with the inline high-pressure fuel pump. The fuel pump is not delivering the commanded fuel pressure, which can cause starting problems and reduced engine performance. Common on Chrysler GDI engines.

Symptoms

• Check Engine Light
• Hard starting or extended crank time
• Rough idle
• Loss of power under acceleration
• Engine stalling

Common causes

• Failing high-pressure fuel pump
• Clogged fuel filter restricting flow
• Fuel pump relay failure
• Wiring or connector issue at fuel pump
• Low voltage supply to fuel pump module

Diagnostic steps

1. Check fuel pressure with a gauge at the fuel rail
2. Monitor fuel pressure PID on scan tool during cranking and at idle
3. Inspect fuel pump relay and fuse
4. Test fuel pump voltage supply
5. Check fuel filter for restriction

Replace the high-pressure fuel pump if pressure is below specification; check fuel filter and wiring first.
