EGR Valve Pintle Position Circuit
2016-2016 Chevrolet Impala 3.6L V6 LFX π¬π§
Description
The PCM detected that the EGR valve pintle position sensor voltage is outside the expected range. The position sensor provides feedback to the PCM about the actual EGR valve opening.
Symptoms
- Check Engine Light
- Rough idle
- Poor acceleration
- Increased emissions
- Stalling
Common Causes
- Faulty EGR valve position sensor
- Carbon buildup affecting valve movement
- Wiring damage to position sensor
- Corroded connector
- EGR valve mechanically binding
Diagnostic Steps
- Test EGR position sensor voltage at rest and during operation
- Command EGR open/closed with scan tool and monitor position
- Inspect EGR valve for carbon buildup
- Check wiring and connector for damage
Repair Notes
Clean or replace EGR valve. Check position sensor wiring.
