What this code means

The engine idle speed is too low. The PCM detects that idle RPM is below the target and the IAC system cannot increase it sufficiently. This code sets when the engine has been running for at least 1 minute and idle speed remains below target.

Symptoms

• Check Engine Light
• Idle speed too low
• Engine stalling at idle
• Rough idle
• Engine dies when coming to a stop

Common causes

• IAC valve stuck closed or restricted
• Carbon buildup in IAC passage
• Faulty IAC valve
• Dirty throttle body restricting air
• Engine mechanical issue (low compression, vacuum leak)

Diagnostic steps

1. Clean IAC valve and passage
2. Clean throttle body
3. Test IAC valve operation
4. Check for restricted IAC passage
5. Check engine mechanical condition if cleaning does not help

Repair notes

Clean throttle body and IAC valve/passage first. Replace IAC valve if faulty.
