Tumble Generator Valve Circuit 2 Over Current

on 2013 Subaru Outback 3.6L H6 · AWD

What this code means

The PCM has detected an overcurrent condition in the Tumble Generator Valve 2 actuator circuit on the left-hand bank. The LH actuator is drawing excessive current.

Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light
  • TGV 2 erratic operation
  • Possible fuse or PCM driver protection activation

Common causes

  • LH TGV actuator internally shorted
  • Wiring short in LH circuit
  • Mechanical binding of LH TGV
  • Water damage to actuator
  • Connector fault

Diagnostic steps

  1. Test TGV 2 actuator resistance
  2. Inspect LH wiring for shorts
  3. Check LH TGV for mechanical binding
  4. Look for moisture intrusion
  5. Isolate circuit and retest

Repair notes

Replace the LH TGV actuator if internally shorted; repair wiring and free any mechanical binding.
