Wiring

Pin 1: Brown/White (5V Reference), Pin 2: Black (Signal Ground), Pin 3: Gray/Red (MAP Signal)

Expected Voltage Range

At Idle
0.8V to 1.5V
At Higher RPM
4V to 4.8V

Expected Pattern

Smooth DC voltage reflecting manifold pressure, low at idle vacuum, high under boost conditions with turbochargers

Known-Good Waveform

At idle, MAP sensor shows 0.8-1.5V representing manifold vacuum of 16-20 inHg. Under acceleration with turbo boost, voltage rises smoothly to 4.0-4.8V representing positive boost pressure of 15-20 PSI. Signal should track throttle position and boost pressure without noise or delay. Key-on engine-off should read approximately 4.5V (atmospheric pressure).

Common Failure Patterns

Voltage stuck at 4.5V regardless of engine operation, no vacuum reading
Cause: Plugged or disconnected vacuum line to sensor, failed internal diaphragm, sensor frozen
Related DTCs: P0106, P0107, P0108
Erratic signal with rapid fluctuations, readings inconsistent with throttle position and boost gauge
Cause: Vacuum leak in intake manifold, torn MAP sensor diaphragm, corroded connector, failing sensor element
Related DTCs: P0106, P0171, P0174, P0299

Diagnostic Tips

On turbocharged EcoBoost engines, MAP sensor is critical for boost control and fuel calculation. Compare MAP readings to boost gauge. Check for intake manifold leaks and verify turbocharger wastegate operation. Sensor should read atmospheric pressure (KOEO) matching BARO sensor.
