Wiring

White (heater +), White/Black (heater -), Black (IP signal/Vs-), Yellow (IP signal/Vs+)

Expected Voltage Range

At Idle
2.7V to 3.3V
At Higher RPM
2.5V to 3.5V

Expected Pattern

Relatively stable voltage centered around 3.0V (stoichiometric 14.7:1 AFR) with small fluctuations of +/- 0.3V. Under closed-loop fuel control, minor oscillations at 1-2 Hz. Voltage rises above 3.3V during lean conditions, drops below 2.7V during rich conditions.

Known-Good Waveform

Air-fuel ratio sensor maintains steady 2.9-3.1V during idle in closed-loop with gentle fluctuations as ECU makes minor fuel trim adjustments. Response time should be quick, with voltage changing within 50-100ms during snap throttle tests. Sensor should achieve operating temperature and begin feedback within 20-30 seconds of cold start due to active heating element.

Common Failure Patterns

Sensor voltage stuck at or near 3.0V with no response to fuel mixture changes, lazy response time over 200ms
Cause: Contaminated sensing element from oil consumption (valve stem seals or piston rings) or coolant intrusion, or aged sensor with degraded response
Related DTCs: P0172, P0175, P2A00, P2A03
Voltage reading stuck lean (above 3.5V) or rich (below 2.5V), or heater circuit current out of specification
Cause: Exhaust leak before sensor causing false lean reading, or heater element failure preventing sensor from reaching operating temperature
Related DTCs: P0030, P0031, P0032, P2A00

Diagnostic Tips

The 2GR-FKS uses wideband A/F sensors, not traditional switching O2 sensors. These require measurement of the current circuit (Ip), not just voltage. Use datastream values for actual AFR reading. The Camry V6 can experience exhaust manifold stud failures which create pre-sensor leaks causing false lean codes.
