🚨 2017 Aston Martin Vantage: Emergency Neutral
The 2017 Vantage uses a center console-mounted automatic shifter with electronic shift lock (Sportshift III transmission).

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and the vehicle is on level ground or properly chocked
- Locate the shift lock override access point in the center console area near the shifter base
- Look for a small rectangular or circular cover cap on the right side or front of the shifter surround trim
- Use a small flathead screwdriver or the metal key blade to carefully pry off the cover cap
- Insert the tool into the exposed override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override pressed, move the shifter toward Neutral position
- If 12V power is available, press the brake pedal while performing the override; if no power, the mechanical override alone should release the lock
- Once in Neutral, remove the tool and replace the cover
Shift-lock override location
Near the shifter base on the center console, under a small cover cap; look on the right side or forward edge of the shifter trim
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the mechanical shift lock override will still function. Press the override release while moving the shifter - brake pedal input is not required when using the mechanical override with no electrical power.
