SPONSORSHIP

Make repair knowledge free — for the next person, and forever.

Mitchell, AllData, and Identifix charge shops $200–600 a month for the same data we give away. We flipped the model: sponsor one vehicle once, and every DIYer and indie shop after you reads its procedures, torque specs, and DTCs at no cost. Forever.

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick a vehicle

Browse the repairs index and find a make/model/engine combination you care about — yours, your dad's, your dream car, the one your shop sees most.

  2. 2

Choose a tier and check out via Stripe

Supporter or Founder. Standard Stripe checkout. No subscriptions, no recurring charges — one payment, that's it.

  3. 3

    Founder tier: procedures generate automatically

Our generation worker picks up your vehicle within a minute. Most vehicles finish in 20–90 minutes. You get an email when they're live. (Supporter tier: data is added on a community-driven cadence; your contribution funds it.)

  4. 4

    Free for everyone, forever

Your sponsored vehicle's procedures are public, indexed by Google, and free for any DIYer or shop to use. Your name stays on the page.

Why this matters

A factory service manual for a 2015 F-150 costs ~$240. A subscription to Mitchell ProDemand runs $200/month, AllData runs $180/month, Identifix is paywalled at $500+/month for shops. The data is the same data we put on this site — labor times, torque specs, DTC codes, repair walkthroughs — but they keep it locked away from the people who actually turn the wrenches.

Most DIY home mechanics can't justify those prices. So they guess. They strip threads. They break parts. They end up paying a shop anyway. Your sponsorship breaks that cycle for one specific vehicle, permanently.

Common questions

Where does my $99 go?

Anthropic API credits for procedure generation (~$0.50–$2 of compute per vehicle), server costs, and the development of new free features. We're a one-person operation; there's no investor cut.

Can I sponsor multiple vehicles?

Yes — please do! Each vehicle is independent. Sponsor your daily, your project car, and your kid's beater.

Is the sponsorship tax-deductible?

Not currently. We're not a registered 501(c)(3) yet. The plan is to apply for nonprofit status once revenue justifies the legal cost.

What if my vehicle already has procedures generated?

Become a Supporter ($10) instead — your contribution still funds the project, and you get your name on the vehicle's supporter list.

Is the content accurate?

AI-generated procedures are technician-reviewed for high-risk jobs (brakes, fuel, suspension) before they appear publicly. Medium-risk jobs ship with a clearly labeled "AI-generated" badge. Low-risk jobs (oil change, filter swap) ship as-is. See FAQ for the full quality policy.

Can I remain anonymous?

Yes — during checkout you can leave the display name blank or use a handle. Stripe still has your billing info for the receipt, but it never appears publicly.
