🚨 2011 Chrysler 300 SRT8: Emergency Neutral

The 2011 Chrysler 300 SRT8 (second generation LX platform) uses a conventional floor-mounted console shifter with electronic shift lock.

Expert-verified by Chris Hackleman & Jeff Moore — master technicians, 20+ years each.
⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and wheels are chocked
  2. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON position if possible to provide power to the shift lock solenoid
  3. Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
  4. Press the shifter release button on the front of the shifter handle and move to Neutral
  5. If no electrical power is available, locate the shift lock override access on the center console near the shifter base
  6. Look for a small rectangular or oval cap to the left or directly in front of the shifter—remove it by prying gently with a flathead screwdriver
  7. Insert a screwdriver or key into the exposed override slot and push down firmly
  8. While holding the override depressed, move the shifter to Neutral
  9. If the vehicle must be towed, ensure it remains in Neutral; a flatbed is strongly recommended for any distance
Shift-lock override location
Small access slot near the shifter base on the console, typically to the left or front, covered by a removable cap
With zero electrical power
With zero power, use the shift lock override slot near the shifter base. Steering wheel will be locked without power, so vehicle can only roll straight—flatbed towing is necessary for any maneuvering.
