🚨 2026 Infiniti Q60: Emergency Neutral

The 2026 Q60 uses a console-mounted electronic shift lever with a button on the side for Park release.

Expert-verified by Chris Hackleman & Jeff Moore — master technicians, 20+ years each.
⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and the vehicle is on level ground.
  2. Locate the shift lock override slot, which is typically found near the base of the shifter—look for a small cap or cover on the console trim adjacent to the shift lever.
  3. Use a small flathead screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry off the override cap.
  4. Insert the screwdriver or key into the shift lock override slot and press down firmly.
  5. While holding the override down, press the brake pedal (if power available) and move the shifter to Neutral.
  6. If no power is available, continue holding the override down and manually move the shifter to Neutral—you may need to apply moderate force.
  7. Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be moved or loaded onto a flatbed.
Shift-lock override location
Near the base of the shifter console; look for a small removable cap on the trim surrounding the shift lever, typically on the right or front side of the shifter base.
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the override slot is your only option. The shifter will be locked in Park by default. Insert tool into override slot and hold while moving shifter to Neutral—expect resistance. The steering wheel will remain locked, so the vehicle must be loaded onto a flatbed; do not attempt to tow with wheels on the ground.
