🚨 2019 McLaren GT: Emergency Neutral
The 2019 McLaren GT uses a push-button transmission selector on the center console with separate buttons for P, R, N, and D, similar to other modern McLaren models.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake if functional
- Locate the 12V battery in the front luggage compartment (frunk) and connect a jump pack or donor vehicle to provide temporary power
- With 12V power restored, turn the ignition to ON mode (press start button without brake pedal)
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Press the 'N' (Neutral) button on the center console transmission selector
- If the transmission does not engage neutral electronically, locate the shift lock override - this is typically a small covered access point near the transmission button panel on the center console
- Remove the rubber cap or cover over the override slot
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or the vehicle toolkit tool into the override slot
- While pressing or holding the override mechanism down, press the N button to mechanically bypass the shift lock
- Confirm the gear position indicator displays 'N' before attempting to move the vehicle
Shift-lock override location
Small covered slot or access point located near the transmission button panel on the center console, typically adjacent to or between the P/R/N/D buttons
With zero electrical power
Without 12V power, the GT's electronic transmission system cannot be operated. You MUST provide external 12V power through the battery in the front luggage compartment to enable any shifter functions. Even the mechanical override requires some electrical power to disengage the shift lock solenoid.
