The 2024 AMG GT Black Series uses Mercedes' AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with a console-mounted electronic shifter lever.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Apply the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels.
- Locate the shift lock override slot — on AMG GT models, this is typically a small covered access point on the right side of the shifter console base near the shifter lever.
- Remove the small plastic cap or cover over the override slot using a flat-blade screwdriver or by prying gently.
- Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool into the override slot and press down firmly.
- While holding the override tool down, press the brake pedal (if any residual vacuum remains) and move the shifter to neutral.
- If brake pedal has no pressure, continue holding the override down and attempt to move the shifter — the mechanical release should allow movement to neutral without brake input.
- Once in neutral, remove the tool and keep the parking brake engaged until ready to move the vehicle.

With zero electrical power
With zero electrical power, the shift lock override is mechanical and does not require battery power. The override slot physically releases the shift lock solenoid. Ensure parking brake is engaged before attempting. If the electronic parking brake cannot be released without power, the vehicle must be flatbedded with wheels off the ground.
