🚨 2007 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG: Emergency Neutral
Note: The CLS55 AMG was discontinued after 2006; 2007+ used CLS63 AMG, but the W219 chassis shares the same center console-mounted automatic transmission lever with electronic shift lock.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Turn the ignition to position 1 (accessory) if battery has any charge remaining
- Firmly apply the parking brake and ensure the vehicle is on level ground
- Locate the shift lock override slot - it is a small rectangular opening with a plastic cover, positioned directly forward and to the right of the shifter base on the console
- Use a flathead screwdriver or the metal key blade to pry off the small plastic cover over the override slot
- Insert the key blade or a small flathead screwdriver straight down into the override slot while simultaneously pressing the brake pedal (if power available) and pulling the shifter toward you out of Park
- If moving the shifter is difficult, maintain downward pressure on the override while firmly pulling the shifter - the mechanical release should disengage the lock pawl
- Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be rolled or winched onto a flatbed

With zero electrical power
With completely dead battery, you will NOT be able to turn the ignition or activate any electrical systems. The shift lock override is purely mechanical - you do not need brake lights or electrical power to use it. Insert the override tool and apply firm pressure while pulling the shifter. The steering will remain locked, so the vehicle must be dollied or flatbedded - it cannot be towed with drive wheels down.
