🚨 2025 Nissan GT-R: Emergency Neutral
The R35 GT-R uses a console-mounted sequential-style lever for its 6-speed dual-clutch transmission with electronic shift-by-wire control.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and set the parking brake firmly
- Turn the ignition to ON position (engine does not need to run, but 12V power must be available for normal procedure)
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Press the shift lock override button located on the left side of the shifter base (a small rectangular button or slot near the base of the shift lever)
- While holding the override button and brake pedal, move the shifter to N (Neutral)
- If the vehicle will be towed, leave the shifter in N and ensure the ignition remains in ACC or ON position during flat-deck loading
Shift-lock override location
Left side of the shifter base console - look for a small rectangular button or access slot adjacent to the shift lever boot
With zero electrical power
With a completely dead battery, the GT-R's electronic DCT cannot be shifted using the normal override. The transmission will likely be locked in Park. You will need to jump-start the 12V battery to gain enough power to activate the shifter override system. Once minimal power is restored, follow the normal override procedure. If jump-starting is not possible, the vehicle must be loaded onto a flatbed with the drive wheels lifted or using skates.
