🚨 2011 Nissan March: Emergency Neutral
The 2011 March (K13 generation in most markets) uses a console-mounted automatic transmission lever with electronic shift lock controlled by the brake pedal switch.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Apply the parking brake and chock the wheels
- Insert the key and turn to ON or ACC position (engine does not need to run)
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Move the shifter from P to N - it should release normally if the brake switch is working
- If the shifter will not move (failed brake switch or no power): locate the shift lock override
- Look for a small rectangular or circular cap on the console near the shifter base, typically forward or to the right of the shifter
- Pry off the cap carefully with a small flathead screwdriver or trim tool
- Insert a screwdriver, key, or similar tool into the override slot
- Press down firmly on the override while simultaneously moving the shifter from P to N
Shift-lock override location

With zero electrical power
With no 12V power, the electronic shift lock will prevent movement from P. Use the manual shift lock override: remove the cap near the shifter base, insert a tool into the slot, press down firmly, and shift to N. The transmission will freewheel in N for towing.
