🚨 2011 Porsche 718 Boxster: Emergency Neutral
The 2011 Boxster uses a console-mounted PDK selector lever (or traditional manual shifter); note that '718 Boxster' branding did not exist until 2016—this is a 987-generation Boxster.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and apply the parking brake firmly
- Turn the ignition to position II (ON) if battery power is available
- For PDK: Press and hold the brake pedal, then press the 'P' button on the shifter to disengage park
- If no power or the shift interlock is stuck: locate the shift-lock override slot—on PDK models it is typically a small covered slot near the base of the shifter console on the left side
- Remove the small plastic cap covering the override slot using a flathead screwdriver or similar tool
- Insert the key blade or a small screwdriver into the override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, move the shifter from P through R to N; release the override once in neutral
- For manual transmission: depress the clutch fully and move the shifter to neutral—no override needed

With zero electrical power
With zero electrical power, the PDK shifter lock may remain engaged. Use the mechanical shift-lock override slot. If the override does not work, the vehicle must be placed on a flatbed with all wheels off the ground. Do NOT attempt to flat-tow a Porsche with PDK transmission.
