The 2022 SEAT Ateca uses a conventional console-mounted automatic transmission lever with electronic shift-lock interlock.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Engage the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels.
- Turn the ignition to ON position (if battery has any charge) or ACC position.
- Locate the shift-lock override slot near the shifter base—look for a small rectangular or circular cover panel on the console directly adjacent to the shifter, typically on the right side.
- Use a flathead screwdriver or the metal key blade to carefully pry off the cover cap.
- Insert the screwdriver or key into the override slot and press down firmly.
- While holding the override down, press the brake pedal (if possible) and move the shifter to Neutral.
- If brake pedal cannot be pressed due to dead battery, continue holding the override and move the shifter to Neutral with firm pressure.
- Replace the cover cap after successfully shifting.
Shift-lock override location
Small cover panel (rectangular or circular) on the console adjacent to the shifter base, typically on the right side—exact design varies between trim levels and DSG vs. conventional automatic.
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the mechanical override will still release the shift lock. You do not need brake pedal pressure when using the override—it mechanically disengages the interlock solenoid. The shifter may require moderate force to move but will shift to Neutral while holding the override down.
