🚨 2017 SEAT Ibiza: Emergency Neutral
The 2017 SEAT Ibiza (6F generation) uses a console-mounted lever shifter with electronic shift lock on automatic transmission models.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on level ground and apply the parking brake firmly
- Turn the ignition to ON position if 12V power is available (do not start engine)
- Locate the small shift lock override cover on the console adjacent to the shifter - typically a small rectangular or circular cap on the right side of the shifter base
- Use a flathead screwdriver, ignition key, or similar flat tool to carefully pry off the override cover
- Insert the screwdriver into the override slot and press down firmly on the release mechanism
- While holding the override pressed, press the shifter button and move the lever to N (Neutral)
- Keep firm pressure on the override release throughout the shifting motion
- If towing is required, ensure the transmission is in Neutral and follow VW Group towing guidelines (automatic transmissions have distance/speed limits for flat towing)

With zero electrical power
The shift lock override is mechanical and should function without electrical power. Remove the cover cap and press the override release with a screwdriver while operating the shifter button. Apply firm pressure as the mechanism may be stiff. If the steering column lock is also engaged with no power, you may need to rock the steering wheel slightly while attempting to shift. If the shifter will not release at all, the vehicle requires flatbed towing in Park position.
