🚨 2021 Suzuki Spacia: Emergency Neutral
The 2021 Suzuki Spacia uses a traditional console-mounted automatic transmission lever with an electronic shift-lock system.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Apply the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels.
- Turn the ignition key to ACC or ON position if battery has any charge remaining.
- Locate the shift-lock override slot, typically found near the base of the shifter console—look for a small rectangular cap or cover adjacent to the shifter itself.
- Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry off the override cover cap.
- Insert the screwdriver or key into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pressing the brake pedal (if power available) and moving the shifter to N.
- If the 12V battery is completely dead, you may need to manually release the shifter mechanism by pressing the override while physically moving the lever—this may require significant force.
- Once in neutral, the vehicle can be pushed or loaded onto a flatbed.
Shift-lock override location
Near the base of the shifter console, typically on the left or right side—look for a small removable cap adjacent to the shifter lever
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the shift-lock override must be used. The mild-hybrid system will be completely inactive. You may need to apply significant manual force to the override mechanism while moving the shifter. Consider charging the 12V battery minimally with a jump pack to enable easier shifting.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
This is a mild-hybrid system with a 12V electrical architecture. The hybrid components do not prevent towing, but ensure the vehicle is in neutral before moving. For flatbed transport, no special hybrid precautions are needed beyond normal neutral positioning.
