🚨 2026 Suzuki Xbee: Emergency Neutral
The 2026 Suzuki Xbee uses a console-mounted electronic shifter with integrated shift-lock interlock tied to the brake pedal and ignition system.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Set the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels.
- Turn the ignition to ACC or ON position if battery power is available.
- Locate the shift-lock override slot on the console near the shifter—typically a small rectangular cap or slot adjacent to the shifter base.
- Use a flathead screwdriver or the metal key blade to remove the cap covering the override slot.
- Insert the screwdriver or key into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pressing the brake pedal (if power is available) and moving the shifter to Neutral.
- If the vehicle will not start, maintain the override pressed and shift to Neutral, then release the shifter button.
- Verify the vehicle is in Neutral by attempting to roll it slightly (with appropriate safety measures).
Shift-lock override location
Console near shifter base, typically under a small rectangular cap on the left or right side of the shifter assembly—exact location should be verified in owner's manual as JDM-market Suzuki shifter configurations may vary.
With zero electrical power
With a completely dead 12V battery, the electronic shifter lock may still be engaged. You may need to jump-start the 12V battery or use a portable jump pack to provide enough power to release the shift lock via the override mechanism. If jump-starting is not possible, the vehicle may need to be placed on a flatbed with wheels free or dollies under the drive wheels.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
The Xbee is a mild hybrid (not a plug-in). The gasoline engine can still propel the vehicle when towed incorrectly. For towing, ensure the transmission is in Neutral if flat-towing, or use a flatbed/wheel-lift with front wheels off the ground. Do not tow with rear wheels only lifted as this is a front-wheel-drive-based hybrid and the transmission can be damaged.
