The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake firmly.
- Turn the ignition to ON position (press START button twice without pressing brake pedal) to provide electrical power to the shifter mechanism.
- Press and hold the brake pedal.
- Press the shift-lock override button located on the right side of the shifter base, near the leather boot—you may need to pry up a small rectangular cover cap with a flathead screwdriver to access it.
- While holding the override button, move the shifter to Neutral.
