Warnings
⚠️This engine weighs approximately 450 lbs. Ensure engine hoist and stand are rated appropriately and all lifting points are secure before attempting removal or positioning.
⚠️Disconnect battery negative terminal and wait 15 minutes before beginning work to allow airbag system capacitors to discharge.
⚠The DB9 V12 uses TTY (torque-to-yield) bolts for cylinder heads, main bearing caps, connecting rods, and flywheel. These bolts must be replaced and NEVER reused.
⚠All machining work (cylinder boring, honing, head resurfacing, crankshaft grinding) must be performed by a qualified machine shop with V12 experience. Document all measurements before disassembly.
⚠Camshaft timing is critical. Mark all timing chain positions relative to sprockets before disassembly and use OEM timing tools during reassembly.
ℹ️This procedure assumes standard rebuild with re-usable crankshaft and cylinder block. If extensive damage is found, block replacement or sleeving may be required.
ℹ️Keep all components organized by cylinder bank and cylinder number. Label bags and containers clearly throughout disassembly.
