Preparation

  3. Measure and record current ride height from ground to bottom of front frame rail at a point 6 inches behind the front wheel centerline on both sides

    Raise and support the vehicle
    Use floor jack to lift front of vehicle at the front crossmember. Raise until front wheels are just off the ground. Place jack stands under the frame rails behind the front suspension crossmember. Lower vehicle onto jack stands and verify stability before proceeding.

    Position yourself under the front of the vehicle. This step does not apply: the 1966 Corvette front suspension uses coil springs, not torsion bars, and has no torsion bar anchor arms or adjustment bolts. Front ride height is determined by the coil springs and is not field-adjustable.

    Clean adjustment hardware
    Use wire brush to clean the adjustment bolt, lock nut, and surrounding area on both sides. Remove any dirt, rust, or debris that could interfere with accurate adjustment. This is critical for precise height setting.
