Preparation

Procedure
- 1Drain transmission fluid and remove panLoosen all transmission oil pan bolts approximately 2 turns each, working in a crisscross pattern. Allow fluid to begin draining from loosened pan edge. Once flow slows, remove all bolts except two at opposite corners. Carefully pry pan loose and remove final bolts while supporting pan weight. Lower pan and drain remaining fluid completely. Inspect pan interior for metal particles or debris indicating internal wear.
- 2Remove transmission filter (if equipped)If transmission is equipped with a filter (TH300 applications), remove the filter retaining bolts and carefully pull filter straight down from pickup tube. Inspect filter for debris and damage. Discard old filter. On Powerglide units, inspect the suction screen and clean if necessary.

Return to Park and check fluid level on dipstick. Add fluid as needed to bring level to FULL mark.
Reassembly
