Locate the idler pulley
Open the hood and locate the serpentine belt idler pulley on the front of the engine. The idler pulley is a smooth pulley (no grooves) located between the alternator and the A/C compressor on the passenger side of the engine. Verify belt routing matches your documentation.

Relieve belt tension
Using a 15mm socket or serpentine belt tool on the belt tensioner pulley bolt, rotate the tensioner clockwise to relieve tension on the serpentine belt. The tensioner is located on the front of the engine below the alternator.

Remove serpentine belt
