Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Place wheel chocks in front of front tires
- Loosen rear wheel lug nuts while vehicle is on ground (do not remove)
- Raise rear of vehicle with floor jack at rear differential or frame rail
- Support vehicle on jack stands placed at manufacturer-approved frame jacking points
- Remove rear wheel on side being serviced
Procedure
- 1Locate the rear sway bar linkThe rear sway bar link connects the sway bar to the rear axle housing. It is located near the wheel mounting area, running vertically from the sway bar down to a mounting bracket on the axle. Inspect the link for damage, torn boots, or excessive play.
- 2Apply penetrating oilSpray penetrating oil on both upper and lower mounting nuts of the sway bar link. Allow 10-15 minutes to penetrate if hardware appears corroded. This will make removal significantly easier.

- 4Remove lower sway bar link nutInsert a 6mm Allen key into the bottom ball stud shaft to prevent spinning. Using an 18mm wrench, remove the lower nut that connects the link to the axle mounting bracket. Once removed, pull the link downward and away from the sway bar.
