Procedure
- 1Inspect current belt routingBefore removal, verify the belt routing pattern matches the diagram on the radiator shroud or hood underside. Take a photo for reference during reinstallation. The belt routes around the crankshaft, water pump, alternator, A/C compressor, power steering pump, and idler pulleys.

- 3Release belt tensionInsert a 3/8" breaker bar or 15mm wrench into the tensioner arm opening. Rotate the tensioner clockwise (toward the passenger side) to relieve tension on the belt. The tensioner will move approximately 45-60 degrees.
- 4Remove old beltWhile holding tension released, slip the belt off the alternator pulley first, then allow the tensioner to return to its resting position slowly. Remove the belt from the remaining pulleys and pull it out from above or below the engine bay.
- 5Inspect tensioner and pulleysSpin each pulley by hand to check for rough bearings, grinding, or excessive play. Check the tensioner for smooth operation and proper spring tension. Inspect all pulley surfaces for damage, grooving, or contamination. Replace any worn components before installing new belt.

- 7Install belt on alternatorUsing the breaker bar or wrench, rotate the tensioner clockwise again to create slack. Route the belt over the alternator pulley, ensuring proper seating in the pulley grooves. Verify the belt is correctly positioned on all pulleys before releasing tension.
- 8Release tensioner and verify installationSlowly release the tensioner, allowing it to apply proper tension to the belt. Verify the belt is centered on all pulleys and seated correctly in all grooves. The tensioner arm should be within its normal operating range (not fully extended or compressed).

- Verify belt is properly seated in all pulley grooves before starting engine

- Start the engine and observe belt operation for proper tracking and no slipping
