- With engine off, pump brake pedal multiple times. Pedal should become firm and hold pressure without sinking. A sinking pedal indicates air in the system or a leak
- Start engine and apply firm brake pressure. Pedal should remain firm and not sink. Check for any fluid leaks around caliper connections, bleeder screws, and brake lines
- Perform a low-speed brake test in a safe area. Brakes should apply smoothly and evenly with no pulling to either side. Vehicle should stop in a straight line
- Test drive at various speeds up to 45 mph in a safe area, making several moderate stops. Brakes should feel firm and responsive with no pulsation, noise, or pulling
- After test drive, recheck brake fluid level and inspect all connections for leaks while system is at operating temperature
- Perform a final torque check on all wheel lug nuts after driving 50-100 miles
