Preparation
- Ensure engine is completely cool to the touch (minimum 2 hours after last operation)
- Disconnect negative battery cable to prevent accidental electrical shorts
- Remove engine cover by pulling upward on front and rear tabs
- Spray EGR tube fittings and mounting bolts with penetrating oil and allow to soak for 10-15 minutes
Procedure
- 1Locate and access EGR valveThe EGR valve is located on the driver's side of the engine, mounted to the intake manifold near the rear cylinder bank. It has a round electrical connector on top and metal EGR tube connecting to the exhaust side. Clear any wiring harnesses or hoses that may obstruct access.
- 2Disconnect EGR valve electrical connectorPress down on the locking tab on top of the electrical connector while pulling the connector straight up and away from the EGR valve. If connector is stuck, gently wiggle while pulling. Do not pull on the wires themselves.
