Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level ground and engage parking brake
  2. Allow engine to cool completely
  3. Open hood and secure with prop rod
  4. Locate the EVAP purge valve on the driver side of the engine, mounted on the intake manifold near the firewall

    Disconnect electrical connector
    Press the tab on the electrical connector attached to the EVAP purge valve and pull straight away from the valve to disconnect. If connector is difficult to access, you may need to route your hand from below the valve assembly.

    Disconnect EVAP hose from purge valve inlet
    Locate the EVAP hose connected to the inlet side (bottom port) of the purge valve. Press the quick-connect release tabs together and pull the hose straight off the valve. The hose runs from the EVAP canister and may have a slight fuel vapor odor.

    Locate the EVAP hose connected to the outlet side (top port) of the purge valve. This hose connects to the intake manifold.     Using a 10mm socket with extension, remove the single bolt securing the purge valve mounting bracket to the intake manifold. The valve is mounted in a plastic bracket that is bolted to the manifold.

Reassembly

  1. Verify all hose connections are secure and fully seated with locking tabs engaged
  2. Ensure electrical connector is fully locked in place
  3. Check that no tools or parts were left in the engine bay

Verification
