- 2Wait for airbag system dischargeWait a minimum of 2 minutes after battery disconnection to allow the airbag system backup capacitors to fully discharge. This is critical for safety when working near dashboard components.⚠️Failure to wait 2 minutes can result in airbag deployment and serious injury
- 3Remove speaker grilleLocate the dash speaker grille on top of the dashboard. Insert a trim panel removal tool at the rear edge of the grille and gently pry upward. Work around the perimeter to release all retaining clips. Lift the grille away from the dashboard.⚠Apply even pressure when prying to avoid cracking the grille or dashboard surface
- 4Remove speaker mounting screwsWith the grille removed, locate the speaker mounting screws. Remove the Torx screws (typically T15 or T20) securing the speaker to the dashboard mounting bracket. There are usually 3-4 screws per speaker. Keep screws organized for reinstallation.
- 5Disconnect speaker electrical connectorCarefully lift the speaker from its mounting position enough to access the electrical connector on the back. Press the release tab on the connector and pull straight out to disconnect. Do not pull on the wires themselves.
- 6Remove old speakerWith the electrical connector disconnected, lift the speaker completely out of the dashboard opening. Inspect the mounting area for any debris or damage that may affect the new speaker installation.
- 7Install new speakerConnect the electrical connector to the new speaker by pushing firmly until you hear a click. Verify the connection is secure. Lower the speaker into the dashboard opening, aligning the mounting holes with the bracket.
- 8Install speaker mounting screwsInsert and tighten the Torx mounting screws to secure the speaker. Tighten evenly in a cross pattern to ensure proper seating. Do not overtighten as this may damage the speaker housing or strip the mounting points.
- 9Reinstall speaker grilleAlign the speaker grille over the speaker opening, ensuring all clips align with their corresponding holes in the dashboard. Press firmly around the perimeter until all clips engage with an audible click. Verify the grille is flush and secure.
- 10Reconnect batteryReconnect the negative battery terminal to the battery post. Install and tighten the terminal bolt to specification. Ensure the connection is secure but do not overtighten.Torque specBattery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)
