Preparation
- Park vehicle on level, solid surface and engage parking brake
- Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels if lifting front first, or front wheels if lifting rear first
- Mark each tire position with chalk (LF, RF, LR, RR) to track rotation pattern
- Loosen all lug nuts approximately one full turn while vehicle is on ground, but do not remove
- Identify wheel type (alloy or steel) to determine correct torque specification
Procedure
- 1Lift front of vehiclePosition floor jack under front crossmember or designated front lift point. Raise vehicle until front wheels are off ground. Place jack stands under frame rails behind front wheels at manufacturer-designated points. Lower vehicle onto jack stands and verify stability before proceeding.
- 2Remove front wheelsRemove the loosened lug nuts completely and set aside. Remove both front wheels and place them flat on the ground behind the vehicle in their respective positions (left front behind vehicle on left side, right front on right side).
- 3Lift rear of vehiclePosition floor jack under rear axle housing or differential. Raise vehicle until rear wheels are off ground. Place jack stands under frame rails in front of rear wheels at manufacturer-designated points. Lower vehicle onto jack stands and verify all four corners are stable.
