Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and apply parking brake
  2. Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels
  3. Allow transmission to cool completely if vehicle was recently operated
  4. Raise front of vehicle using floor jack and support on jack stands at frame rails

    Lower vehicle from jack stands. Start the engine and allow it to idle. With foot on brake, shift through all gear positions, pausing 2-3 seconds in each position. Return to Park. Raise vehicle and inspect transmission pan for leaks.
