Turn Signal Bulb - Front

Replace the front turn signal bulb in a 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 by accessing the bulb socket from the engine bay.

• Front turn signal bulb × 1 — 3157A or 3157NA amber bulb

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level ground and turn off ignition
2. Allow turn signal bulbs to cool if vehicle was recently operated
3. Open hood and secure with prop rod

Procedure

1. 1

   Locate the turn signal housing
   Identify the turn signal bulb housing at the front corner of the headlight assembly on the affected side. The turn signal socket is accessed from behind the headlight assembly in the engine bay.

   Access the bulb socket
   Reach behind the headlight assembly and locate the turn signal bulb socket. It is positioned at the outboard corner of the headlight assembly, separate from the main headlight bulbs. The socket has a wiring harness connected to it.

   Remove the bulb socket
   Grasp the bulb socket firmly and rotate it counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn (90 degrees) until it releases from the headlight housing. Pull the socket straight out from the housing.

   Remove the old bulb
   With the socket removed, press the bulb gently into the socket and rotate counterclockwise to release it from the bayonet-style mount. Pull the bulb straight out of the socket. Inspect the socket terminals for corrosion or damage.

   Install the new bulb
   Using a clean shop towel or while wearing gloves, insert the new 3157A amber bulb into the socket. Press in gently and rotate clockwise until the bulb locks into the bayonet slots. Ensure the bulb is securely seated and cannot be pulled out without pressing and rotating.

   Reinstall the socket assembly
   Insert the bulb socket back into the headlight housing, aligning the tabs on the socket with the slots in the housing. Push the socket in fully and rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into place. Verify the socket is secure by attempting to gently pull it out.
7. 7

   Test turn signal operation
   Turn the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine. Activate the turn signal on the side where the bulb was replaced and verify proper operation. Check that the bulb illuminates amber and flashes at the correct rate. Also verify the corresponding dash indicator flashes normally.

Reassembly

1. Ensure bulb socket is fully locked into headlight housing with a clockwise rotation
2. Close hood securely after verifying turn signal operation

Verification

• Turn on ignition and activate turn signals to verify both front turn signals flash at the same rate
• Visually inspect from outside the vehicle that the replaced turn signal bulb illuminates properly with amber color
• Check that the turn signal indicator on the instrument cluster flashes at normal speed, not rapid or slow
• Verify hazard lights function properly on both sides
