Fix: The 2.7L has a water pump integrated into the timing chain cover that leaks internally, allowing coolant into the oil and causing sludge buildup in the narrow oil passages. Leads to spun bearings, scored crankshafts, and seized pistons. Repair requires complete engine rebuild or replacement. Labor alone is 18-22 hours for used engine swap, 30+ for rebuild.
