Floor Mat Hooks

Installation of floor mat retention hooks to secure floor mats and prevent interference with pedals in the driver and passenger footwells.

• Floor mat hook assembly (driver side) × 1 — Mopar 82213584 or equivalent
• Floor mat hook assembly (passenger side) × 1 — Mopar 82213585 or equivalent
• Self-tapping screws (if not included with hooks) × 4 — M6 x 16mm with washers

Preparation

1. Remove all floor mats from the vehicle and set aside
2. Move driver seat fully rearward for easier access to footwell
3. Verify that replacement hook assemblies match the mounting pattern on your floor mats
4. Locate factory hook locations or determine optimal placement on carpet to avoid pedal interference

Procedure

   Identify mounting location for driver side hook
   Locate the factory hook mounting point on the driver side floor, typically positioned approximately 6-8 inches forward of the seat track and centered in the footwell. Some 1994-2007 Ram 2500 models have pre-drilled threaded inserts in the carpet; check for a small circular indentation or existing hole in the carpet. If no factory location exists, position the hook where it aligns with the mat grommet without interfering with seat movement or pedal operation.

   Prepare driver side mounting hole
   If factory holes are present, peel back carpet slightly to verify the threaded insert is intact. If no factory provision exists, mark the mounting location with a center punch or awl. Carefully cut or pierce the carpet at the marked location. For non-threaded floor pans, drill a 1/8 inch pilot hole through the carpet backing only (do not drill through the metal floor pan unless using self-tapping hardware designed for this application).

   Install driver side floor mat hook
   Position the hook assembly over the prepared mounting location with the hook oriented toward the rear of the vehicle (mat should pull forward to engage). Insert the mounting screws through the hook base. If using factory threaded inserts, thread screws in by hand first to verify engagement. Tighten screws in a cross pattern to ensure even seating of the hook base against the carpet. Use moderate hand pressure with a screwdriver; over-tightening can strip threads or tear carpet backing.

   Verify driver side hook security
   Test the installed hook by applying upward and lateral force. The hook should not rotate or lift from the carpet. Verify the hook height allows the floor mat grommet to engage fully. Place the floor mat in position and engage the grommet onto the hook to verify proper fitment and alignment.

   Check pedal clearance with mat installed
   With the driver floor mat secured to the hook, operate the accelerator pedal through full travel from idle to wide-open throttle. Verify the mat does not bunch, fold, or interfere with pedal movement. Slide the mat forward firmly to simulate worst-case movement and retest pedal travel. The mat should remain clear of the accelerator, brake, and clutch pedals in all positions.

   Install passenger side floor mat hook
   Repeat the location, preparation, and installation process for the passenger side footwell. The passenger hook is typically positioned similarly to the driver side, centered in the footwell and forward of the seat track. Ensure the hook does not interfere with any under-dash components, wiring harnesses, or HVAC ductwork. Install and tighten mounting screws using the same method as the driver side.

   Install and verify passenger mat
   Place the passenger floor mat in position and engage the grommet onto the hook. Verify the mat lies flat and does not interfere with seat movement or any under-dash components. Test hook retention by attempting to slide the mat forward with moderate force; the hook should retain the mat securely.

Reassembly

1. Ensure all floor mats are properly engaged on their respective hooks
2. Return driver seat to normal operating position
3. Verify no tools or hardware have been left in the footwell areas

Verification

• Operate accelerator, brake, and clutch pedals through full range of motion with mats installed to confirm no interference
• Attempt to slide each floor mat forward forcefully; mats should remain secured by hooks
• Visually inspect that mat edges do not curl up or overlap onto pedal areas
• Verify hook assemblies are flush with carpet and not creating trip hazards
