Turn Signal Bulb - Front

Replace the front turn signal bulb by accessing the lamp assembly from the engine bay and removing the socket from the rear of the housing.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off ignition
2. Allow front lighting to cool if recently used
3. Open hood and secure in raised position

Procedure

1. 1

   Locate turn signal bulb socket
   Locate the front turn signal bulb socket at the rear of the front turn signal/park lamp assembly. On the 1992 Viper RT/10, the front turn signal lamps are mounted in the front fascia, separate from the pop-up headlight units. Access the socket from behind the lamp assembly; depending on fitment, this may require reaching up from under the front fascia.

   Remove bulb socket
   Grasp the bulb socket firmly and rotate counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it releases from the lamp housing. Pull the socket straight back out of the assembly.

   Remove old bulb
   If the bulb is a bayonet type, press it gently into the socket while rotating counterclockwise to unlock the base; if it is a wedge-base type, pull it straight out of the socket. Pull the bulb straight out of the socket. Inspect the socket for any corrosion or damage to the electrical contacts.

   Install new bulb
   Using a clean cloth or gloves, insert the new 3157A amber turn signal bulb into the socket. Press in gently while rotating clockwise until the bulb locks into place with the bayonet pins properly seated.

   Reinstall socket assembly
   Insert the socket assembly back into the lamp housing, aligning the tabs. Push in fully and rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until the socket locks into position.

Reassembly

1. Ensure socket is fully locked into housing with no gaps
2. Close hood after verification

Verification

• Turn ignition to ON position without starting engine
• Activate turn signal on the replaced side and verify proper amber flashing operation
• Activate hazard lights and verify both front turn signals flash in unison
• Check that flash rate is normal (approximately 60-90 flashes per minute), indicating proper bulb resistance
