Remove and replace the door panel on a 2005 Dodge Viper, including disconnecting electrical connections and removing interior fasteners.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and ensure ignition is off

Procedure

   Remove door pull/armrest assembly

Disconnect the power window switch connector if equipped by pressing the locking tab and pulling the connector straight out.

   Inspect the upper front corner of the door panel near the mirror triangle trim and the upper rear corner for retaining screws; remove any found. Screw type and count should be verified against the 2005 Viper service manual. Check for any additional screws along the top edge of the panel.

   Locate and remove any screws along the bottom edge of the door panel. Screw count, type (Phillips or Torx), and positions should be verified against the 2005 Viper service manual before removal.

   Disengage retaining clips
   Using a door panel clip removal tool, carefully release the retaining clips around the perimeter of the door panel. Start at the bottom rear corner and work forward, then up the sides. The exact number of perimeter retaining clips should be verified against the 2005 Viper service manual; release each clip carefully as it is located. Pull outward with steady pressure once clips begin to release, listening for each clip to pop free.

   Lift panel away from door
   Once all clips are released, lift the door panel straight up approximately 1-2 inches to clear the window sill ledge and door latch mechanism. Tilt the bottom of the panel away from the door frame while keeping the top engaged until clear of all obstructions.
   ⚠Do not force the panel if it resists removal. Check for missed fasteners or clips before applying additional force.

   Disconnect remaining electrical connections
   With the panel pulled away from the door, disconnect any remaining electrical connectors for courtesy lights, speakers, or lock mechanisms. Press the locking tabs and pull connectors straight apart. Note the routing and position of any wiring harnesses for reinstallation.

   Remove door panel completely
   Once all electrical connections are disconnected, remove the door panel from the vehicle and place it on a clean, padded surface with the interior side facing up to prevent scratching the visible surface.

   Inspect clips and fasteners
   Examine all retaining clips on both the door panel and in the door frame. Replace any broken or damaged clips. Check that all screw holes in the door panel are intact and not stripped. Clean any dirt or debris from the door frame mounting surfaces.

Reassembly

1. Reconnect all electrical connectors to their respective components, ensuring locking tabs engage fully
2. Position the door panel at the top of the door frame, aligning with the window sill ledge, then lower into position
3. Press firmly around the perimeter to engage all retaining clips, verifying each clip seats with an audible click
4. Install all screws following the reverse order of removal, torquing door panel screws to specification
5. Reinstall the door latch bezel, ensuring all tabs engage properly before installing the retaining screw
6. Reinstall the armrest assembly, connecting the power window switch before securing with Torx screws
7. Reconnect the battery negative terminal if previously disconnected
8. Test all door functions including window operation, door locks, and interior latch before returning vehicle to service

Verification

• Operate the door latch from inside to verify smooth operation without binding
• Test power windows through full up and down travel to ensure no interference with panel
• Check that all panel edges are flush with adjacent trim and no gaps are visible
• Press on the door panel at multiple points to verify all clips are fully engaged with no loose areas
• Verify all switches and controls operate correctly and are properly illuminated
