Preparation

Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake

Access headlight assembly
From the engine bay, locate the headlight assembly behind the front fascia. The assembly is accessed from above with the hood open. Note the position of the vertical and horizontal aim adjusters if you plan to reuse the assembly.

Disconnect electrical connector
Locate the main headlight electrical connector at the rear of the headlight assembly. Press the locking tab and pull the connector straight back to disconnect. For HID-equipped vehicles, there will be an additional ballast connector - disconnect this as well by pressing its release tab.

Remove headlight mounting bolts
Remove the 4 bolts securing the headlight assembly to the front structure using a 10mm socket. These bolts are located around the perimeter of the headlight assembly accessible from the engine bay. Support the assembly with one hand as you remove the final bolt.

Remove headlight assembly
Carefully pull the headlight assembly forward and out of the vehicle. Angle the assembly slightly to clear the mounting tabs and front fascia. Be careful not to scratch the lens or damage the surrounding bodywork during removal.

Inspect mounting points and seal
Check the mounting surfaces on the vehicle body for damage, corrosion, or debris. Inspect the headlight gasket or seal for deterioration. Clean mounting surfaces with a microfiber cloth if needed. If installing a used assembly, verify the mounting tabs are not cracked or broken.

Position new headlight assembly
Guide the new or replacement headlight assembly into position, aligning the mounting holes with the body mounting points. Ensure any locating tabs engage their corresponding slots and that the gasket or seal is properly seated around the perimeter.

Install mounting bolts
Start all 4 headlight mounting bolts by hand to ensure proper thread engagement. Tighten bolts in a cross pattern to 10.0 Nm (7.0 lb-ft) using a torque wrench. This ensures even pressure distribution and proper seal compression.

Reconnect electrical connectors
Push the main headlight electrical connector onto the headlight assembly until the locking tab clicks into place. For HID-equipped vehicles, reconnect the ballast connector. Verify both connectors are fully seated with no gap between connector bodies.

Test headlight operation
Turn the ignition to the ON position (engine does not need to run). Test low beam, high beam, and turn signal functions. Test both bulbs to verify they illuminate on low and high beam. Check for proper operation of any integrated daytime running lights.

Reassembly

Installation is the reverse of removal
Torque all fasteners to specifications in the sequence described
