Sun Visor

Remove and replace the driver or passenger sun visor assembly by removing the mounting screws at the pivot bracket and disconnecting any electrical connectors for vanity lights.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off ignition
2. If replacing a visor with vanity lights, disconnect battery negative terminal and wait 2 minutes
3. Lower the sun visor to the down position for easier access to fasteners

Procedure

1. 1

   Remove Visor Pivot Cover
   Gently pry off the decorative pivot cover at the mounting bracket near the windshield header using a trim tool or small flathead screwdriver. The cover snaps into place and conceals the mounting screws. Set the cover aside in a safe location to prevent scratching. Note: If the visor has vanity lights, disconnect the battery negative terminal before servicing to prevent electrical shorts in the vanity light circuit

   Disconnect Vanity Light Wiring (If Equipped)
   If your visor has a vanity mirror light, locate the electrical connector behind the pivot bracket. Press the release tab and disconnect the wiring harness. If no vanity light is present, proceed to the next step.

   Remove Pivot Bracket Mounting Screws
   Remove the 2 Phillips head screws securing the sun visor pivot bracket to the windshield header. These screws thread into the windshield header frame structure. Keep the screws organized for reinstallation. Keep the screws organized for reinstallation.

   Remove Auxiliary Mount (If Equipped)
   If the visor uses a secondary retention clip or pin mount near the A-pillar, slide the visor toward the windshield to disengage it from the auxiliary mount bracket. Some Viper visors use only the pivot bracket; others have an additional retention point. Inspect your visor to determine configuration.

   Remove Sun Visor Assembly
   Once all fasteners and connectors are released, pull the visor assembly away from the headliner. Guide any wiring through the opening in the headliner if applicable. Inspect the mounting area for any damage or wear to the headliner backing material.

   Install New Sun Visor Assembly
   Position the new visor assembly at the mounting location. If equipped with vanity lights, route the wiring harness through the headliner opening and connect the electrical connector until it clicks into place. Align the pivot bracket with the mounting holes in the windshield header.

   Install Pivot Bracket Mounting Screws
   Thread the 2 Phillips head screws through the pivot bracket and into the headliner support structure. Hand-tighten the screws snugly to avoid stripping the threads in the mounting structure. Do not overtighten. Confirm torque specification against factory service documentation if available. Do not overtighten.

   Reinstall Pivot Cover
   Snap the decorative pivot cover back into place over the mounting bracket, ensuring all clips are fully seated. The cover should sit flush against the headliner without gaps.

   Reconnect Battery and Test
   If the battery was disconnected, reconnect the negative terminal. Test the visor by rotating it through its full range of motion - from stored position against the headliner, down to block the windshield, and pivoted to the side window. If equipped with vanity lights, open the mirror cover and verify the light illuminates.

Reassembly

1. Ensure visor pivot bracket screws are torqued to specification to prevent rattles without stripping threads
2. Verify vanity light wiring connector is fully seated and locked if equipped
3. Confirm decorative pivot cover is snapped fully into place with no visible gaps

Verification

• Rotate visor through full range of motion to verify smooth operation without binding or looseness
• Check that vanity mirror light operates correctly when mirror cover is opened (if equipped)
• Verify no rattles or unusual noises when operating the visor or driving over rough surfaces
• Confirm pivot cover and all trim pieces are secure and properly seated
